Patine sèche
In English use: Desiccated / Weathered patina
A "dry" patina — matte, brittle, light-coloured, often the mark of long un-use or outdoor exposure.
The counter-pole to the oiled surfaces. An untreated, long-weather-exposed wood develops a matte, often paler, washed-out and brittle surface. Signals long absence of ritual care or deliberate outdoor placement (e.g. poteaux — outdoor post-figures).
