Usure de préhension

In English use: Gripping wear

Wear from gripping — smoothing and subtraction of wood at exactly the points where priests or dancers held the object.

A specific smoothing and subtraction of wood found at exactly those spots where priests, initiates, or dancers held the object over generations. The outer rim of a mask, the wrists or neck of a guardian figure, or the shaft of a ritual staff — the edges lose their sharpness, the wood is extremely densified and polished.
