Kanaga

A Dogon ritual mask whose tall wooden superstructure forms a sharp cross — a vertical stem with two horizontal cross-bars ending in flattened palms (often called "double cross"). Worn at the dama, the great collective funerary rite that escorts the souls of those who died in the previous interval into the realm of the ancestors.
